Former State Representative Beth Beskin says she is being forced to turn to the courts to have the opportunity to run for a Georgia Supreme Court seat.
Cary Ichter, Beskin’s attorney, filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court that would force Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to call an election for the seat currently held by Justice Keith Blackwell. A Governor Nathan Deal appointee, Blackwell announced plans last month to resign his position in mid November. Blackwell’s six year term is set to expire on December 31, 2020, Beskin said, and an election date for this seat was listed as May 19, 2020.
